Bamboo Chest Of Drawers

Today I put this in place of the sold hallway table. Taken years ago from in front of my door and ever since it has been holding book wrappings, it's good to have that organised, but the whole thing was taking place that I didn't really have. Happy to have it removed from my actual living space and in my tiny hallway it leaves enough space to pass and can be easily moved if needed to pass larger objects to take in or out. 

Scratches on the wall caused by an old chair out and a new one in late at night without having enough space... To show sooner or later. Well I must have some of that paint still. And hope it will be the last time to have to fix it.Today I put this in place of the sold hallway table. The thing is I have another one of the same chest but higher, having place for four drawers but one is missing. This is now hidden behind a chair I don't even use except for piling up mess and more 'stuff' in between, and I don't even know for sure what's in it. It must have been there for twenty years or more, so next step is attacking that situation, make empty and move it to the hallway instead and sell the better one. I'll still have the same three drawers for the materials.

Half A Table

I don't remember when I found this three-legged table but it was not so long after I moved the chest of drawers from my hallway to my kitchen to support my electric oven and cooking device. And it stayed there until I sold it this morning. Most likely designed as a hallway table anyway. It was waiting for me across the street and it served me well as a place to keep mail to be looked at later or to use as a counter for sold books or other smaller items for pick-up. I would have liked to keep it. Don't you love those turning drawers? But downsizing is a bigger priority now and I have another chest of drawers to put there that will serve the same function. On top that holds my shipping materials for books. Will show later when it's in place and out of my living room. For now a huge box is there waiting for trash night. Would love to bring it to paper collection but it's too much. Sorry Nature...

The customer also wanted this basket. Dragged home years ago as well, walking with it on the back of my bike. I wanted to use it at the thrift shop as a display for my unsold leftover handmade earwarmers that I donated. But bringing it home was so clumsy that I decided to not want the same hassle to get it to the shop. Sat in my storage for years until listed early this year.

It was a bit difficult to set a pick-up date with the bidder and it took two weeks but the wait was worth it. The friendliest happy young couple showed up, apologized more than once for the delay and left with a big smile. Apart from the €20 added to my account, that's what I do it for too.

Nice Armchair Not For Me

I saw this across the street a few hours ago when I went up to the Man upstairs. Tempted! Looks very comfy and I'm looking for a replacement of an Ikea chair with a cotton removable cover that needs washing. I just don't feel like taking the effort. But this beauty looks heavy, and my strength isn't what it used to be but on top it would involve removing things that are blocking my hallway to make free passage for the in and out. And it's not even bulk trash day. I like to stick to the rules when I put things out. No place to stock until!

Another no go is the wear that tells me the cover is leather look-a-like skai. Not that I mind the white spots, and the woodwork looks really nice. I somehow don't understand the combination of that quality and fake leather. 

The main problem about skai is that my cats lóóóve it! They made one chair that I showed here years ago look like a plush puppet, despite all the scratching posts they have indoors and then trees and other wooden things outside. I didn't even mind that so much, as that thing was the comfiest ever. But it had to go after the seat cover just went to threads and I found a real leather replacement for it. Somehow their nails don't like it so they leave it alone. But photo's and story about that are to come.

I posted the photo's in some Facebook groups, and hope someone came for it. Since right now it's pouring down...

1960's Rattan Table And Chair Set

I'm soon running out of things to show from the past. Something I can't find the photo's of, something I can't find how it sold. It will maybe come back along the way.

For now I dive deeper into the past. 1984, my first tiny attic apartment of my own in Amsterdam. I was a curb shopper at heart already, but still hesitant. Coming home from parents one Sunday night I couldn't resist this. I had seen the same in classmates rooms in my childhood. My room was left side of a narrow hallway. On the right there was storage for people from other floors downstairs. But at the end of the hallway there was a wider place by the front window. Where on sunny summer days in the afternoon I could sit in the sun. I placed my set there and then called it my 'terrace'. Of course this picture is an example, but I'm surprised it can still be found sometimes and is of Dutch make!

The set went with the Man and me to the next apartment, but after that I don't remember. But sure had it for years.

1970's TV Or Table Base

I found this in Fall 2016 in front of my door and despite the wear on the paint I thought it should have some value. The plank mounted on top was obviously done later. What was originally there is unsure, but I was convinced it must have been as special thing for a TV because I have seen those in my childhood, though a coffee table top could have been a possibility. It took almost a year but then it made me €22.

IKEA Marius Stools

Sold today €4 the set. Cheap stools from IKEA. Not even comfortable to sit on, because of the holes. They look cute though and are practical for parties. Second hand available all over the place. New at the shop only €4,99 each. Taken from in front of the door two years ago or more, finally listed them early August. There were some people interested who I then never heard back from but never mind, I just had to wait for the right person who wanted to come over within hours and at a time I was home as well. Quite happy with this sale and a tiny bit more space in my house. Mind you picked up trash this afternoon...

French Style Folding Bistro Chairs

When I spotted these in front of my door they didn't look great, but at closer inspection they turned out to be intact and stable. Just needed a really good sand and paint job. First bidder came very quickly and asked if I could ship them which was a no go for such big things. Not to worry soon a couple came by car from a nearby town (Haarlem) to pick them up, making me €20 richer. Not a bad deal.

1970's Swivel Based Footstool

This truely 1970's item was not in great shape, but damage only on the seat so sttill functionable and you rarely see them anymore so I thought it was worth taking it in and as it was in front of the door as usual no trouble. 

It took about three months to sell, good enough, no second listing necessary, and as I remember well a student came for it for her first flat or room. Possibly reminded her of things seen in grandparent's place. I like that. As probably needed repairs made it not interesting for a reseller or collector.

Plush Cuddle Couch Cushion

I don't remember if I washed at least the cover of this large cushion. Something I'd normally do with found textiles but it would have destroyed the softness of the plush, unless you brush that but it may take away fibres. Probably it was just that clean. Listed March 2017, sold €5 just over after a week.

Vintage Plant Stand Or Milking Stool

This small piece of furniture from in frront of my door is to low to make a sitting stool, but isn't sturdy enough to serve as a climbing stool, so I listed it as a 'milking stool', suitable to use as a plant stand. It could have been used as a work stool for like fixing bicycles or so. I thought 1960's or older. Pretty cute. Listed March 2017, went June €5 including wear of paint. Was picked up at the door by someone very happy with it.

Brown Knitted Designer Pouffe

It's strange but from the two knitted pouffes I found and sold in 2017, this is the more expensive one, but sold at the lower amount, only €4. But it was before the purple one. Otherwise I recall nothing special to report, other than that it was in mint condition and from a designer shop.

Lined Crocs, IKEA Folding Chairs, IKEA Cupboard Shelf

This fur lining doesn't look so attractive anymore, even after washing. However Crocs are wanted so I gave it a try. Success, sold within two weeks €6.

From the same photo session May 2017, IKEA Nick chairs. They were gone three days later €5.

Someone bought the IKEA Pax/Komplement system and had one shelf too many, or didn't use it because of the slight damage. Someone else had the system and wanted an extra shelf. And didn't mind the damage. Used good side turned up it's invisible. It must have been some transport issue as the thing was still sealed in plastic.

Somehow I feel I was just the one connecting these two people or families. My fee €2,50. Found and sold July 2017.

Sheaf Of Wheat Shaped Bamboo Side Table

My friend Judy found this funny side table in her part of town. Can't say I like it but different it is. Origin or age totally unclear. 

She must have brougt it to me early 2017 or even before. As I had in my place for a long time before I even photographed it July 2017. August 2018 I started my new job, taking much energy. I managed to go on selling for a while, but in 2019 stopped new listings. But apparently went on relisting unsold, but stopped keeping admin for what finally went after all. Just found out that thanks to old emails that I kept in my Yahoo account that I use only for this, I found in the end I sold it July 2019 €10! 

Leather Hocker, Footstool Or Pouffe

These are popular multifunctional additions to people's furniture these days, to sit on, rest your feet on on or even place a large hocker tray on. At least if you have the space.

I've got two. Both brought to me by my dog walking neighbour Freek.

This orange one is rectangular and has some wear on the legs, not affecting its functionality in any way. Wear on the leather just adds to its charm in my opinion. However it never sold, trying for over a year. Not having a brand on it also didn't help.

Second one is a Montis square model. Red, intact apart from a sort of cut out circle on the lacquer of the leather the size of a drinking glass. Though expensive, I deem it around €500, never even tried selling it yet. Thefore no photo's available.

Both landed in my bedroom, sort of extending my one person bed beside the bottom. To throw clothing to rewear next morning on instead of on the floor. To be washed stays sometimes as well and other things too, but still better than laying around on the floor.

Purple Knitted Pouffe With Cat Appreciation Photo

Found and sold 2017. I thought these were kind of out of fashion by now, but Googling I still find them for sale up to €80 or more. Sold mine €6, because of some discolouring at the bottom. Not visible unless turned upside down.

I had to ship it, the customer was not unhappy about the quality or so, but for whatever reason emailed me that at least for the moment the pouffe ended up in her yard. And her cat loved it!

Vintage Iron Side Table Reconstructed

I think I doubted about taking this in. Because the top is most likely not original, looked like a Seventies makeover and besides damaged. And there is this weird emblem shaped sort of empty space in the middle. I loved the iron base though and thought someone might want to give it a third chance. So I gave it a try and it left my house in the end though is was after a complete year, February 2018 €5.

More From 2016 Part VI - The Blues King

I should really organize and pack for Sunday, our first car boot sale of the year. I hope to unload a bulk there, but first I want to unload a bit more from the 2016 list.

I kept this rusty old bucket in my yard for years. I still like it but it was in my way and in need to downsize you shouldn't be afraid to let go of your favourite stuff. Once listed it was gone quickly.

A low bar stool. For another teenage girl's bedroom.

A very slightly cracked bamboo cutting board. Still perfectly usable. They are inexpensive but popular. As often I was surprised someone paid shipping to get it home.

A Johnson Blues King mouth organ. From an expat who probably went home or moved on. He left loads of stuff in a box labeled 'free stuff all working'. Mostly tools that I kept for myself. I was already looking through them when he came down again and brought books, that were all about music and a lot of them sold for good prices already.

It took me eleven months to get rid of this pouf. It was brand new but perhaps black isn't popular for small furniture...

as proves this vintage end table that sat in my storage for about eight months.

Where a cute little garden table the same size was out in a day in the last warm week of the year.

I photographed this IKEA Spontan magazine rack the same day, using the table as a support as it happened be there. The rack also sold the next day, I'm wondering now if it was to the same person. Probably not, it would have stuck in my memory somehow.

These lamp shades were brand new, but I didn't expect to sell them fast. When I finally did the bid was twice as much as hoped for. If you look closely you can see they are adjustable for use on a foot or to hang from the ceiling.

A cute little embroidery. One of the last things I expected to sell on line. Didn't get much, but still better than flea market would have done.

It went back to the area where it was framed and most likely made.

The embroidery came along with these two mini wall hangings that I sold at the market last year. I think they were all bought in our local thrift shop before they were trashed.
